Government mulling 13 percent tax on Linkedin leadership lesson post authors

As per our sources in the finance ministry, finance minister and tax specialist Nirmala Sitharaman is considering taxing authors of social media posts about leadership lessons from cricketers. At a high level meeting in Parliament Writers Block, the minister is said to have asked a crack taxation team to come up with the tax rules within the next 3 days.

The monthly meeting which is held to come up with new taxes was chaired by Sitharaman and attended by tax sharks drawn from across teams within the ministry. At the meeting, Sitharaman complained that her LinkedIn timeline is now filled with posts about leadership lessons from all types of cricketers. As the social media influencers ran out of cricketers even the likes of Manoj Prabhakar, Nayan Mungia, Nepal cricket team's 12th man Rajesh Thapa, the curator of Westfield cricket stadium pitch in Ontario, Papua New Guinea's team physio and even the comptroller of Argentinian Cricket Board were not spared. Self-styled LinkedIn influencers have written about leadership lessons from all these guys and spammed hapless social media users who saw thier timelines flooded with preachy posts.

"I am tired of these posts. I want to know what these guys are smoking or it is possible that their homes are being painted with some cheap paint. Either way the authors of such posts need a psychiatric evaluation done at the earliest. Something is fundamentally wrong here,' Sitharaman said.

Meanwhile government sources also claimed that some quarters were planning an ED raid on some of these social media influencers. "The government is angry as no one has pointed to the leadership lessons from BCCI secy Jay Shah who is considered as a leader par excellence who rose in his career propelled by his own skils and aptitude without an ounce of support from elsewhere. No one has even pointed to his above par communication skills either and this is worrying," our source said.

The new tax may come into effect as early as July, our sources said.
