Arnab Goswami anti-national gate: India issues demarche to the Portuguese ambassador

Portuguese ambassador to India Carlos de Drama received a soft copy of a demarch from the Indian government over the remarks made by a random Mr. McAdams wannabe on an Arnab Goswami show. The man in question is Gilbert Doctorow, a man who is ranked 6.9 billionth on the list of 7 billion most popular people on earth. Doctorow, ran head first into trouble when he called Arnab an anti-national. A charge that had so far eluded the most boisterous news anchor on earth whose antics put Fox News to shame.

“Government of India is disappointed with the behavior of Mr. Doctrow who has called one of our lackeys as anti-national and holding a position contrary to that of the state of India. Well, the government of India through this 115 KB PNG demarche reiterates that its stated position on any matter is closely aligned to Mr. Arnab Goswami’s position. Further, except on issues of domestic dispute within Mr. Goswami’s household, we are always supportive of his high decibel endeavors,” an explanatory note from the Ministry of External Affairs said.

“We encourage both parties to enter into a dialogue while respecting each other’s intellectual sovereignty,” the note added. The last sentence seems to be a reworked version of the line that was used in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. “The demarche indicates our collective disappointment at the behavior of a certain Doctrow. The Portuguese government should not allow such detritus to operate from their soil,” a senior bureaucrat told Humor Unplugged.

The episode is almost a week old. The government was slow to react as it was busy with the polls in 5 states. Arnab and Doctrow had almost come close to exchanging digital blows before someone in Arnab’s studio turned Doctrow’s feed off and replaced him with Suhel Seth who spoke about his long association with the UK monarchy.

Arnab being called anti-national on his show is a new one

Towards the end of the show, when matters settled, civil and uncivil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia walked in and gave a long speech about how the Modi government had arranged for an immediate evacuation of Mr. Goswami and his staff from the Republic TV studio. He also went around the studio and spoke exclusively to female staff members and enquired about their favorite dishes, sunset spots and hobbies, and asked his PA to document their numbers for future contact. He avoided all male members and even pretended they didn’t exist.

“We had issued a warning as early as Jan last year recommending Mr. Goswami and his staff to fly out immediately but this was not heeded to so we had to make an offer of evacuation,” Scindia said before he was heckled and pushed off stage.

Pipi Goswami was at her in-law's home and was unavailable for comment.
